Fri 8 Oct

GPS:  M6N1--Fraction/decimal/percent operations
WotD:   tax
HW:  Enjoy your vacation!!

Today we will take a unit test covering the past three weeks' material.

Brain juice--Here is a very typical proportion problem like we will be working on in the near future--We want to measure the height of the flagpole in front of KRMS, but we don't want to climb up the pole.  We know that it casts a shadow that is 8 feet long.  We also know that at the same time, Briana, who is 50 inches tall, casts a shadow that is 20 inches long.  How tall is the flagpole?

Thur 7 Oct

GPS:  M6N1--Percent word problems
WotD:  discount
HW:  Study for your test tomorrow.

Today we will work on real-world word problems using percent.  We will focus on discounts, tips, tax, and sales.  Tomorrow our test will cover what we have been studying, focusing on fraction operations, percent, and fraction/decimal/percent conversion.

Brain juice:  If you are running in a big race, and right at the end you pass the person in second place, what place do you finish?
